Orla Maher is a freelance Drama Facilitator with fifteen years experience. She trained in Drama Facilitation and Methodologies with ArtsTrain at the National Association for Youth Drama in Ireland. After completing her degree in Trinity College Dublin she went on to complete a Postgrad in Drama in Education with Trinity.
For the past ten years Orla has worked with the Gaiety School of Acting, The National Theatre School of Ireland, helping to develop and deliver their Young Gaiety acting courses. Here she works extensively with young people between the ages of four and eighteen facilitating workshops of various levels with the underlying ethos of Drama for Confidence and Creativity. She also facilitates intensive Master Classes, Casting and Audition workshops for Young Gaiety along with their Summer Drama programme.
Orla has worked extensively with Primary and Secondary Schools, Theatres, Crèches, Community Groups and Youth Theatres throughout Dublin, Kildare and Meath. She has worked as a Facilitator with Sticks & Stones delivering their anti-bullying programme. As part of the Pavillon Theatres, Flip-Flop International Children’s Theatre Festival Orla has created and performed interactive puppet performance workshops in Libraries throughout the Dun Laoghaire- Rathdown area
With Baobab Theatre she co-wrote and performed in the Children’s show, ‘Waiting For Billy’. The show toured Primary Schools where Orla devised and delivered accompanying workshops relating to the shows healthy eating theme.
While driving her children to their umpteenth birthday party and realising that they now had a better social life then her, Orla decided there and then, if you can’t beat them join them, she has been developing and delivering Drama Parties for Young People ever since.
